Jason S

Jason S. is an artist who paints and writes poetry. He doesn't believe in inspiration and despises technology. Many of his paintings features cell phones and iPads, with an underlying notion that our society is too dependent on it. He lives in a lovely apartment filled with novels written by exceptional authors and he also has great taste in music. He loves jazz and has traveled many parts of the world, including Tokyo. All of the paintings in his home were created by him and when he's not painting or writing, he works as a social worker for children.

I found Jason to be quite interesting, especially his comment on inspiration. I can't say that I agree though. I think that anything anyone makes was inspired from something else.

Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is nonexistent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery—celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from—it’s where you take them to.” — Jim Jarmusch

  1. love these candid shots! also, you look adorable. that splatter top and knit hat is just...<3 can we hug? :)

also, thank you for your sweet comment on my blog. it was so encouraging. :)

It's true that nothing is original and inspiration may not exist, but I also think it's wonderful that the same images, ideas, and creation will always tug at a person's heart no matter when or where they are born. It may be a copy of a copy of a copy, but it's still beautiful nonetheless. <3
